In Part 1, we shared how Fukuda Denshi was born from a single invention — Japan’s first domestically produced electrocardiograph in 1935 — and grew into a nationally recognized medical device company by the early 1950s. In Part 2, we pick up that story in 1992 and follow it to where Fukuda Denshi stands today.
1992: Expanding Beyond Cardiac Care

By 1992, Fukuda Denshi had spent decades establishing itself as a leader in cardiac diagnostics. That year, the company took a significant step in a new direction: the establishment of a Home Oxygen Therapy division dedicated to oxygen enrichment medical homecare. It was a signal that Fukuda Denshi’s commitment to patient care extended beyond the cardiology department — and into the full spectrum of where patients live and recover.
1994: Fukuda Denshi Goes Global — Including the United States

1994 was a pivotal year. With a clear business goal of international expansion, Fukuda Denshi established offices in Beijing, the United States, and the United Kingdom — all in the same year. Fukuda Denshi USA was founded with the goal of strengthening the company’s presence in the American market, bringing the same commitment to quality and innovation that had defined the brand in Japan to healthcare providers across the U.S.
That founding moment is the reason we are here today — and it reflects something important about how Fukuda Denshi thinks about its mission. Accessible, reliable medical technology isn’t just a Japanese ideal. It’s a global one.
2004: AEDs and Public Health Awareness

In 2004, Fukuda Denshi turned its attention to a different kind of impact: public access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The company actively worked to promote AED awareness, with the goal of creating a society where anyone — not just medical professionals — could respond confidently in a cardiac emergency. It was a natural extension of Fukuda Denshi’s founding values: that the right technology, in the right hands, saves lives.
2020–2021: Adapting and Looking Forward

When COVID-19 reshaped how organizations operate, Fukuda Denshi responded by prioritizing its people — introducing flexible work policies and work-from-home practices to support employees through an unprecedented period. In 2021, the company opened a new Hongo office building in Tokyo, reaffirming its commitment to the future of global medical care with a modern, purpose-built home for continued innovation.
From a family workshop in 1935 to a global medical device company with offices in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China — the story of Fukuda Denshi is one of steady, purposeful growth. And it’s still being written.
